UNIKAMA – At the beginning of 2019, Universitas Kanjuruhan Malang (Unikama) should be proud of itself because for the third time in a row, it successfully won a grant from The Program of Scientific Periodic Governance Assistance (BTBI) which was obtained from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. The government has carried out various programs to improve the quality and quantity of Indonesian scientific publications. One of the programs to increase the productivity of Indonesian scientists is to increase the number and quality of nationally acclaimed scientific journals or even gain world recognition.
One effort was made to maintain and improve the quality of scientific journals and to encourage acceleration for national accreditation by The Program of Scientific Periodic Governance Assistance (BTBI) towards national accreditation, increasing awareness and leading to international reputation. Currently, the results publication of Indonesian research at the international level is still low, one of the factors is the writing culture undeveloped research and the low willingness and ability to write research results and community service that can be published in high-quality scientific journals.
The BTBI Electronic Journal or Grant Management Program itself is a program started by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education since 2015 ago. Uniquely, three consecutive times since 2017 received the grant. First through the Journal of Modernization Economics (JEM) published by the Faculty of Economics and Business, then the Journal of Community Empowerment (JPM) from LPPM, and the current one through the Educational Inspiration Journal (JIP) published by the Faculty of Education.
This year Unikama received a grant from Kemenristekdikti through the Education Inspiration Journal (JIP). It should be known that Unikama currently has a total of approximately 18 digital journals and 2 accredited journals and 5 indexed journals. “We will manage this grant for existing journals throughout the University which later can be used together so that others also come forward. For the target, Unikama himself wants at least 5-7 accredited journals this year, “said Muhammad Nur Hudha as Head of the University Publication and Publishing Center (P3U).
Muhammad Nur Hudha added his hope when having an accredited journal, the motivation of lecturers to write was increased and did not stop at the report of the research results alone. The grant of assistance from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in 2019 was given to 57 journals from state and private tertiary institutions in Indonesia. (Inka)
